London-based pastry maker, Tom Smith, invented the celebration cracker after a trip to France where he was inspired by their bonbon treats. When he returned to London he tried selling the paper-wrapped sugared almonds himself with little success. That is until inspiration struck one night as he sat listening to the snaps and pops of his fireplace. What if he could make the treats crackle like the fire when opened? Little did he know that this thought would be the beginning of a timeless Christmas tradition. Crackers evolved from treats to notes, and finally to the trinket-filled, paper-wrapped, popping cardboard tubes we know today. Crackers are not only a perfect addition to your holiday celebrations but your everyday parties and special occasions as well.

Our crackers are each filled with festive surprises and feature classic Caspari paper designs, bows, appliqués, and more. Individuals or partners grab the ends and pull to open the cracker with a “bang” and reveal the prizes inside.
  • All Christmas Crackers each feature classic Caspari paper designs and additional luxury embellishments. This cracker features a unique Christmas tree, cone shape and can stand up on its base.
  • Each Christmas Cracker contains a foil paper crown, a joke, and one trinket.
  • Set of 8 Crackers

Artist or Collection Biography: Katharine Barnwell is a classically trained artist, living and working in New York City. Her studies began in Florence in the studio of Signorina Nera Simi, continuing in New York at the Art Students League, The National Academy, and Pratt Institute. Barnwell paints a full-scale original oil painting of flora or fauna on wood, has a high-resolution scan made, and sends it to her carpentry studio. There, the painting's silhouette is laser cut out of wood. It is a painstaking process that each season yields a small batch of beautifully made objects, including fire screens, umbrella stands, and freestanding decorative paintings.
